Capri

We took a short, high speed boat trip from Sorrento to the the island for an afternoon. We had planned on visiting the Blue Grotto, but the rough seas would not let the row boats enter and so it was closed. So we explored the town and enjoyed the view--and the fresh seafood.

The island is essentially a mountain sticking up out of the sea. No long, flat sandy beaches here. Instead we found a three dimensional city split by narrow walking-only roads that went straight up the hill. During our many rest stops while walking (or was it climbing?) up these roads, we had a chance to glance into the yards and gardens of the residents. Each house was named and had gardens filled with flowers and plants, including vineyards, lemon trees, and olives.

Imagine this view from your window each morning

 The harbor and town

 A narrow pedestrian road

 Beautiful flowers and beautiful kids

 The center of town
