Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

Sorrento is the home of our favorite italian drink: Limoncello. Take fresh lemons, soak them in vodka, strain, add sugar to thicken, add more vodka, put in a bottle and serve ice cold on a hot day. A concentrated, refreshing, and stimulating experience. Just like Sorrento. A coastal town built up the side of a hill with no space wasted for roads. With great pride, Brian survived three days of driving without a single scratch on the car. Juli liked Sorrento because this was the town where she got her first real watch--a Swatch like her brother's.

Just south of Sorrento and wrapped a bit around the coast, is the strip of land known as the Amalfi Coast named after the town of the same name. Vineyards, orchards, and villages clinging to the side of the hill and hanging above a dark blue sea. During the summer, the road is so busy that it takes all day to travel. In the fall, we had little trouble with traffic--only having to pause when the local bus had to work it's way around the tight turns.

The Amalfi Coast Is that a road or a vineyard?
