The Southern neighbor of the Dordogne river valley is the Valley of the Lot. What a different feel to the countryside. Where the Dordogne registers in the mind as a dark green land with yellow building stones, the Lot is silver and white--white stones and oak trees with grey-green leaves. It just is different--a little coarser, a little wilder. We had lunch in the cliff top village of St. Cirq and then enjoyed the winding river road down to Cahors and the Pont Valentre.
