Impressionism is the name given to a painting technique that uses bright colors and strong, visible brush strokes to try and capture the impression of light on a scene. Many experts claim that Claude Monet invented this technique in the late 1800's when he became famous for painting the flowers at his home in Giverny. Claude's gardens are large and filled with beautiful, colorful flowers, depending on the seasons. When Lori visited the gardens in May of last year, the water gardens and the lilies were in full bloom. This time, the main gardens were alive with tulips while the water gardens were a study in green. Scroll down a bit to see a sample of spring in Giverny. |
