Head due south from Paris and stop when you hit the ocean.  You are now in the region of France known as Provence.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, Provence is, well, Mediterranean in both climate and culture.  Very different from where we live near Paris.  Lying between Spain and Italy, Provence is an interesting mixture of the two, even the local accent sound more Italian than French.  Roman ruins and bullfights.  Hilltop monasteries and the castles of popes.  Sun, warm days, and warm beaches.  Provence has it all.

The thought of visiting Provence came up one dark winter day as we were sitting around with friends and thinking of all the warm and sunny places we could go.  Our thoughts eventually turned to Provence and we quickly realized that this was something we could do.  After some checking on lodging and we all decided to make a go of it.  Both of our families (4 adults, 6 children, one traveling dog) in one house for a week of sun and history.

Let's go!
Where we visited while in Provence
